(Well maybe they are not really ‘killed’…. )
In the video, below, Alan Grayson, a Representative from Florida, uses a Harvard study to justify his support of the Health Care Reform bill. His contention is that there is a holocaust occurring due to lack of health insurance.
The Harvard report states that 44,798 Americans die each year due to lack of health care insurance.
That’s all I know; like so many studies, the devil is in the details, and I don’t care to read yet another study. I’m content to comment on the headlines, and the video, and the Graysons comments.

When I see, and hear, something like this, I just wonder if his constituents are really as ignorant as he thinks they are. They just have to be smarter than he believes.
In the first place, all these political polls, and statistics, aren’t worth the paper they are printed on. We all know how easy it is to slant any statistics to either support your cause, or destroy your opponents cause.
We’ve seen the President go from claiming that there are 45 million uninsured Americans, to 37 million. Which is it ? Does anyone really know ? Of course not.
It’s all just politics.
I simply do not believe the Harvard statistics. I don’t see how such data can be gathered with any accuracy, and without a bias. Any university study is suspect because of their liberal bias.
But, even if it is true, what does that have to do with health care reform ? Is Alan Grayson suggesting that we can save those 44,789 lives by enacting a health care reform plan ?
We can save more lives by putting that money to better use. For example,
1) Annual deaths due to tobacco consumption: 500,000. Let’s outlaw tobacco, and fine anyone caught smoking on American soil.
2) Annual deaths due to alcohol consumption: 100,000. Again, outlaw alcohol, and fine anyone caught smoking on American soil.
3) Over 42,000 Americans are killed each year in traffic accidents. Outlaw cars, or drivers, or something, and fine anyone who is caught doing whatever.
4) over 200,000 Americans die each year as a result of medical errors, and infections that occur while hospitalized. So, if we add an additional 44,789 patients, how many of those will succumb to hospital caused deaths ?
Of course I know that 1), and 2), are overlapping, but, I’m not going to split hairs on this; all of these figures are reasonable, and can be found in various places on the Internet.
And it’s not unreasonable to fine the offenders because, the health care plan proposes to do just that for individuals who do not purchase their own health care insurance.
We can save 500,000 lives, per year, by outlawing tobacco. Not only will it save lives, but it will save on health care costs for a high risk group with inherent health problems.
This video would be funny, if it weren’t so surreal. What is going through his mind ? Has he lost control of his emotions ? Is he hysterical ? Or is he just trying to upset the Republicans who called for an apology ? Does he sincerely believe that there is a holocaust in America ? Does he know anything about the holocaust ?
Grayson is also the fellow who accused Republicans wanting American to “die quickly” (see the video, below).
Apparently he is a new Representative in the House; perhaps he is simply being contrary, and outrageous, for it’s own sake, and to make a name for himself. As we all know, even negative publicity works. Maybe he is taking a lesson from the Joe Wilson incident, and he thinks he can get more donations by having his name and likeness in the public eye.
It beats me. I don’t know if he is simply naive, or just a light-weight; it’s hard to tell, though, if you look at some of his other video’s, he just seems immature to someone like myself. I think he would probably fit very well with the amateurs who seem to be populating the Whitehouse right now.
I know I’m making light of a serious subject, but, if I don’t, I’ll lose my mind in a morass of nonsense.
I love America, and our willingness, and ability to join the good fight, whatever it is; but, we just have to laugh, at times, at the overboard silliness and emotion that gets even the best of us.
And that is just my opinion.
