About AngryCalifornian.com by Spencer Holly

I don’t know which I’m more ashamed of: California and it’s current financial and political mess, or the corresponding mess in Washington. They are equally disturbing.

I have always been proud to be a Californian, quirkiness, and all; I could not image living anywhere else. I love the beauty, I love the life style, I love the weather, I even love the diversity, et all, quirkiness, of my fellow Californians.

I’ve never been ashamed of being a Californian until now. California, especially our politics, has become an embarrassment, and it’s hard for me to take pride in looking so foolish.

We’ve gone from being the 7th, or 8th largest economy in the world, to near, if not actual, bankruptcy. We should be sitting pretty, and here we are, now, about to sink. It’s a disgrace

We have a legislative body that is polarized to the point of almost paralysis, and is ineffectual, lacks leadership, and courage. Instead of making the hard decisions to bring us back to solvency, they are avoiding their own responsibility by presenting the voters with a list of propositions that may, or may not solve our problems, but which shield themselves from responsibility.

We have a governor who is more concerned with the environment, than with protecting the welfare of the State.

A popular majority vote doesn’t seem to work in California. And the initiative/referendum process has become a joke.

I could go on, and on.

I’m not here to tear-down California. I want to be proud of being a Californian, again. I don’t pretend to have the answers, and I can only lend my opinions, and suggestions, and common sense, and I hope that my fellow Californians will do the same.

We need ideas, we need to express them, we need to be heard, and we need to vent our angry !

This isn’t about bashing Republicans, or Democrats, or conservatives, or liberals, it’s about bashing stupidity, and cowardice, and intolerance, and the lack of leadership.

And this is not all about partisan politics. I have opinions that on alot of topics that will probably irritate, or please, both conservatives, and liberals. And not topics are political

And this is not about ‘the good old days’; I wouldn’t want to ‘go back’; I like our times, and our life style, and if had a magic wand, there are not many things that I would change.

This blog is about lending some perspective, and some wisdom, and common sense, to the mix, and hoping for the best, there will even be a few laughs, I’m sure.

And this blog isn’t just about California. National issues are, and the Federal government is fair game, and I’d like to hear about your State, too.

We welcome your participation, however, we do ask that you submit a valid email address in order to post a comment. This is to prevent the spam that is so common, and destructive to blog websites.

Please keep your posts civil, especially when it comes to expletives. I use the Mom Rule; if the language and dialogue would embarrass your Mom, then it doesn’t belong here. If your Mom is not easily embarrassed, then think of my Mom.

And if all you want to do is rant, and rave, and spout hatred that is devoid of any intelligent discourse, then don’t bother to comment; it will never be posted.

And I reserve the right to reject any post, and while we do provide access to various websites, and blogs, etc, you should use them at your own risk. If you think a website is malicious, or poor quality, feel free to send an email to ac-admin@angrycalifornian.com.

And feel free to make suggestions, and recommend blogs, and websites; we would like to encourage like-minded blogs.
