Dear John – The Next Time you Bash Bush, Think About This

The following is a comment I made to a fellow on a social network who is clearly liberal, likes Obama, and hates Bush.

To his credit, in the ongoing dialogue, he defended himself against an overwhelming conservative majority. It was all fairly civil, and as intelligent a discussion as can be had when folks are talking politics…

Anyway, he really didn’t say anything new about Obama, or Bush, that hasn’t already been said many times, over, and I doubt if he changed any minds. He did provoke a spirited discussion.

Anyway, I created my comments late in the game, so I had the advantage of picking and choosing my ‘talking points’.

I don’t think it is important for the reader to have read the arguments preceding post; I think most folks will be able to discern what I am responding to, however, in some cases I have added comments in parentheses.

My response to “John”…

John, in spite of your hatred for Bush, you at least have to give him credit for having his priorities in order, and focusing on the primary threat to the nation, i.e., terrorism.

In an Obama administration, we’d be apologizing for making the terrorist angry enough to attack us, and blaming the Bush administration.

There is no doubt that Obama would do almost nothing. He would take the Jimmy Carter approach, and feign a ‘tough’ response, and then wring his hands for the next four years.

We, as a nation, having nothing to apologize for; we have a right to defend ourselves, otherwise, we will not exist as a nation.

And if you are so worried about body counts, and collateral damage (resulting from the “Bush” wars), you need to keep in mind that we could vaporize countries like Afghanistan, and Iraq, in moments, without sacrificing a single American life, yet, we have chosen, as a country, to restrain ourselves, and withhold our true power in the interest of preserving lives.

Thousands of our soldiers have died because of that little realized policy.

The next time you have the urge to show compassion for others, why don’t you image yourself, or a loved one, trapped inside the WTC when they were attacked, or on one of the attack air planes, and imagine the horror that they experienced in their last moments of life because the U.S. was perceived as weak, and unwilling to protect itself.

Right now, Obama is faced with a financial crisis that has the potential of doing greater harm to the U.S. than even 9/11, (except for the horrific deaths), and, instead of focusing on providing solutions, he has only sought to make it worse by trying to impose even greater financial burdens on the American people, in the form of Health Care Reform, and Cap and Trade, etc.

Obama has been in office over a year, and our financial crisis is deeper because of his policies, and he hasn’t a clue as to where to go from here.

There is no telling where we will be in another year; worse-off, I’m sure.

And I’m also sure that Obama will still be blaming Bush for his own lack of leadership, and courage.

And that is just my opinion.
