Foxy Loxy, Al Gore, and Chicken Little. Is the Sky Falling ?

The battle lines are being drawn on the impending Cap and Trade debate.
Wildlife & Animals 1258
This should be an interesting debate because the whole premise for Cap and Trade is based on the belief that the Sky is Falling, and, in order to stop it, we must tax, and spend, and tax, and spend, etc. etc.

So we are in for an endless round of nonsensical debate over a tax that is supposed to save an Earth that doesn’t need to be saved, all because Chicken Little types are too dumb, and/or too lazy, to think for themselves, and, instead, let the Foxy Loxy types do the thinking for them.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m in favor of environmental laws. And I am in favor of controlling carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. We live in a huge bubble, and it doesn’t make sense to keep filling it with pollutants. And if, in doing so, my cost of living is increased, so be it, so long as it doesn’t force me into the poor house. The history of the last 40+ years has shown that most folks know that there is a price to pay for a cleaner environment; our air, and water, are cleaner because of environmental laws, and we have all paid the price.

For example, our cars are much more expensive (by 1,000’s of dollars), because of pollution control devices, and we all pay to have that equipment checked each year.

And it works. When I first moved to Southern California in the pre-pollution control days, the smog was thick; it smelled, and it hurt to breathe on the worst days; our eyes would hurt, and they would be black and swollen from watering. It was like living in a garage, with an automobile running all the time. So, because of pollution controls, it is much better, now.

Because of environmental laws, our air is clean, our water is safe, acid rain is a thing of the past, and raw sewage is no longer dumped into Santa Monica Bay. In fact, now, in some areas, the sewage is purified, and dumped back into the drinking water aquifers.

So, environmentalism, per se, has been effective, and it has been expensive.

The primary target of Cap and Trade is to reduce CO2 emissions. If you were in a room full of CO2, you would die. The Earth is really just a very big room; if we could somehow fill it with CO2, humans would not survive. Logic dictates that not even something as large as the atmosphere of the Earth can tolerate unlimited CO2 and other pollutants. It’s not like there is some magic process that scrubs the air of pollutants.

So, we do need to do something to reduce CO2, and other emissions.

Cap and Trade is not the answer. Cap and Trade can only work if it is in force, world wide. It doesn’t do any good for a single country, or a few countries, to limit their emissions, while their neighbor is increasing theirs. It is a silly notion.

In the U.S., Cap and Trade is being used as a means to grow the Federal government, and generate taxes under the guise of improving the environment. If the Federal government really wants to reduce CO2 emissions, all they have to do is mandate it much in the same way that they mandated that automobile manufacturers must reduce emissions.

Instead, they want to create yet another giant bureaucracy, like Health Care, and control yet another huge, and necessary segment of the economy.

In the name of environmentalism, Cap and Trade panders to the Chicken Little types who are eager, and ready, to accept whatever the Foxy Loxy types tell them, and are happy to go about crying that “the sky is falling, the sky is falling”.

Thanks to folks like Al Gore (Foxy Loxy), there are armies of believers

Foxy Loxy

(Chicken Littles) who really believe that the sky is falling, and that if we don’t do something, today, we will die tomorrow.

Politically, I promise you that we will hear hysterical supporters telling us that we will die if we do not pass Cap and Trade, just as they did with Health Care Reform.

Made-up terms like “Global Warming”, and “Climate Change”, are bandied about as if they were gospel, and written by God. And ministers, like Al Gore, a politician, not a scientist, preach that the Sky is Falling, while he hypocritically uses energy, and pollutes the environment, far beyond the average follower, and, has financial investments in the future Cap & Trade scheme.

I guess he wants his followers to do as he says, and not as he does. In a different age, he would be called a charlatan, tarred and feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

The shame of this is that, instead of taking a reasonable, and balanced approach to controlling CO2 emissions, and developing other alternate, non-polluting sources of energy, the debate is going to be all about dollars (taxes), increased governmental control of the all energy, and environmental religion/science.

In the end, it will be about politics, and who will “win”. The majority party, the Democrats, will very likely push this through, simply because they can, and not because it is good for the country. The Health Care debate is evidence of that.

This debate should be bipartisan, but, that seems to be a pipe-dream these days.

Folks like our wonderful California Representative, Nancy Pelosi, have abandoned even a semblance of bipartisanship, as evidenced by passage of the Pelosi Health Care Bill.

Her shameless desire to win, at all costs, was apparent when she ram-rodded her Cap and Trade Bill through the House, and unashamedly tacked on a 400 page amendment in the middle of the night, just hours before the final vote was taken, so only one person claims to have read the Bill before it was voted upon, and passed.

I hope our Senators do a better job with Health Care, and Cap and Trade.

The Sky isn’t Falling; it just looks that way….smile…

And that is just my opinion.

Foxy Loxy, Al Gore, and Chicken Little. The Sky IS Falling
=====================================================

It’s been a long time since I saw this as a kid, but I remember the whole premise, and I’ve always ignored, and dismissed, the “Chicken Little’s” of the world that I’ve met along the way.

I never thought that some day, the Chicken Little’s of the world would be in charge.

Foxy Loxy reminds me of Al Gore, and/or Obama… (you’ll see what I mean when you view the video)

Chicken Little, of course, represents all their faith-filled leaders who will lead the masses to their doom.

Cunning fox that he is, Foxy Loxy uses every-day psychology to get the masses to follow him, and do his bidding:

Step 1: To influence the masses, aim first at the least intelligent.
(Chicken Little)

Step 2: If you tell a lie, don’t tell a little one; tell a big one. (The
Sky is falling !).

Step 3: Undermine the faith of the masses in their leaders. (Demonize Republicans, demonize Bush)

Step 4: By the use of flattery, an insignificant person is made to look upon themselves as a leader. (The masses will follow the village idiot.)

Be sure to watch this all the way through; it has a funny ending.

Our kids should be seeing this, instead of “An Inconvenient Truth”.
