How Do We Stop Our Apparent Slide to Obamaism ? 2010

That’s a good questions…

The short answer is, we do it the American way: work toward the next election – 2010.

After the weekend fiasco with passage of the Pelosi Health Care Reform Bill, it’s clear that us like-minded folks have to accept the possibility that our considerable pressure may be meaningless to a House majority bent on having their way because they know best.

America Slides to Obamaism

America Slides to Obamaism

Nancy Pelosi has shown that she is perfectly capable of ignoring a majority of Americans who do not want Health Care Reform (HCR), by forcing a ridiculous monstrosity of a bill through the House for reasons that I cannot discern. I’m too much of gentleman to tender a guess.

Thanks to the wisdom of our founders, we still have a means of tempering, if not killing, the outrageous Pelosi bill, in the Senate, but we may get a worse bill.

So, this is just health care; what do we do for the next three + years ?

Cap and Trade is just as bad as HC, Card Check is not dead, and the revision of the Clean Water Act is yet another power grab, etc, etc, etc.

At this point, we have no choice but to keep-up the pressure, and force the Democrats to work for everything they they try to achieve, and start working for success in the 2010 elections. (Which, by the way, is just about here).

One good thing about Health Care Reform, is that, while it begins to collect taxes, immediately, it does not take effect for several years. If we can get more Republicans elected in 2010, we can still have a great effect on HCR; we might even get a rational bill.

I wouldn’t count on any spectacular upsets, next year. It all sorta depends on the unemployment rate, and the prospects are dim as to whether that will improve by then, so the outlook might be dim for the Democrats.

Adopt a Republican

For 2010, we need to look at Republican/Conservative candidates on a national level, and support those who can make a difference, even if they are in another State. We all need to adopt candidates in other States, and support them with money, and by spreading the word.

I just viewed a video article about how California Senator Boxer is receiving donations from all around the country; in this case, to reward her for immigration legislation that is friendly to illegal aliens, and the companies that employ them; aka, amnesty. (The video is referenced at the end of this article).

Remember, not every State has a critical election in 2010. Focusing on the important races can make a difference.

Instead of adopting a highway, maybe we could institute an “Adopt a Republican” program for 2010. A few bucks from alot of folks can make a difference. That is why we need to spread the word.

For example, in California, Barbara Boxer, and Nancy Pelosi are on the chopping block.

Californians, alone, cannot defeat Pelosi, because she has solid support in her district. If her opponent can get enough support, and money, from outside the district, and outside the State, then he has a chance.

So, I’m going to lend as much support as I can to her opponent. Money talks, so I’ll do my part. And I can help through my blog, and through various social networks like Twitter, and FaceBook.

Boxer is vulnerable, too. So, I’ll do the same for her opponent.

Spread the Word.

I can’t emphasize this enough. I happen to have the time to keep myself informed; it is alot of work, and it takes alot of time. If I were still working, there is no way that I could be as informed as I am now.

I have committed the sin of assuming that my friends, and relatives are as savvy about current events, as I am. But they aren’t. They don’t have the time. They listen to news, or read the paper, or listen to the radio, and, they get very little information; they only know about the biased events that media wishes to reveal.

I am astonished, at times, at how little they know.

A case in point, is the AARP endorsement of Pelosi’s Health Care Reform Bill. If you are a senior, that is an impressive endorsement, unless you know that AARP stands to profit handsomely from Reform, and that many AARP members reject their stance.

The same holds true for the AMA endorsement. It is impressive unless you know that the AMA only represents about 18% to 25% of doctors, and not even those doctors agree with the endorsement; many chapters have strenuously objected to the endorsements.

You don’t hear any of that in the local news. You just hear the sound bites, and see a picture of Obama applauding the ‘endorsments’.

That’s why spreading the word is so important. And it must be spread as far, and wide, as possible, and it needs to get to those who can’t get to it themselves.

Short of having a TV show, I can’t think of any better of spreading the word, than online, through social networks.

We all know what the ‘word’ is; conservative values; conservative messages; conservative candidates. There are any number of ways to spread the word.

Social networks are a great way to learn, and share information. Twitter is my favorite because it is a rich source of information, and a great way to disseminate information. If done right, it’s reach is impressive.

I like it because it’s a quick way to share information without getting involved in time consuming discussions (which are important on another level).

And it is easy to re-share that information.

But the ’spreading’ doesn’t stop there. When I find a worthwhile article, I share it on other networks, like FaceBook, or LinkedIn, or StumbleUpon, etc.

And, in turn, each of those networks provide even more material for sharing on Twitter, and other networks.

Don’t under estimate the value of spreading the word. Data/information, itself, has an intrinsic value, and there is just no single source, or source(s) for all the information.

Important information can come from anywhere.

Blogs are an important source of information, and wisdom; (there are some awful bright folks out there). Again, spread the word.
If you read a blog that you like, spread it around; post it to Twitter, and FaceBook, and StumbleUpon, etc, etc.

Find networks that you like, and that you will use, at least occasionally … (don’t Spam…. it’s counter productive.)

Article websites are another way to disseminate information. If you are a blogger, find some quality article websites and post your articles there, too. Besides spreading your words, it’ll bring new users to your blog

LinkedIn is another network that I like for it’s discussions. I’ve learned alot; new perspectives are important to me. Unfortunately, by itself, the reach is not great, but, I still consider it of great personal value.

Tea Parties are great. Unfortunately, sometimes they haven’t garnered as much attention as they should, due to media bias, but, they still are very important. Keep up the good work. They are worth it just to upset Pelosi, and Boxer.

We need to spread the word, and engage the opposition, and change some minds, too. It doesn’t do any good to crab to each other; we need to teach the opposition the errors of their ways.

And that is really not a useless endeavor. Obama’s demographics included massive support from 18 to 29 year-olds. In some cases, folks this age are still in the process of solidifying their beliefs, and they are still up for grabs on a long term basis.

This is a group that is hard-hit by the economy, and high unemployment. The current President always takes the blame for unemployment; they’ll be bad-mouthing their leader when their unemployment compensation runs out. Obama will not be able to blame Bush for their lack of work.

I subscribe to liberal networks, and blogs, etc, because I want to see the other side; the other perspectives. And, I don’t hesitate to tender my perspectives in blog comments, etc. Dazzle them with intelligent comments. (Though I will do it under a different persona…smile…)

Anyway, I guess I just think that we need to continue to keep the pressure on the Obama folks, and focus on 2010, and then 2012.

Obama is not invincible, and our system of government is still the best way to stop the current nonsense, and restore some semblance of sanity.

And that is just my opinion.
