By announcing a time-limit, Obama has essentially made his strategy an “exit strategy”, rather, than a winning strategy.
Nixon had his “Vietnamization” strategy to exit Vietnam, “with honor”, and Obama’s “Afghanization” of this war has the same strategy.
Countless American soldiers risked their lives, and/or were killed and maimed while Nixon’s program proceeded at a snails pace, purely for political face-saving reasons, and the same will happen in Afghanistan.
If I were a soldier in Afghanistan, I would certainly not be willing to unnecessarily risk my life, and the lives of my buddies, knowing that my Commander in Chief is willing, and ready, to accept defeat, and will abandon the fight when a politically inspired artificial deadline is reached.
Obama is a loser, and his Afghan policy is a losing policy because he doesn’t believe he/we can win, and he is simply prepping the country, and the world, for a defeat, which he will blame on the military.
If he were a winner, he’d support the troops, and his Generals with their logistical needs, and inspire them to be successful, and win. Instead, he chose to announce to the world that he is quitting, but that he is going to unnecessarily sacrifice even more American lives before he actually orders troops to leave.
He is probably crossing his fingers and hoping that the additional troops will attain victory before their deadline is reached.
I think we should exit now; today, rather than lose more American soldiers to a losing policy.
It would be better to rejoin the fight, later, if necessary, if we are again attacked, rather than face the certain, and unnecessary loss of American soldiers.
And that is just my opinion.
