There is a tiny made-up controversy brewing over whether Senator Boxer was being overly sensitive in asking General Walsh to address her as Senator, rather than as Ma’am. (See the video, below)
Ma’am is a perfectly proper, and respectful term; it’s not at all disrespectful.
There are plenty of people who like to be addressed by their titles. She obviously prefers to be addressed as Senator, and that should be honored without any petty controversy.
I have to give her this one; she doesn’t deserve a beating on this one.
She just appears to be a little exasperated, and tired; maybe this was the culmination of a long day, or a long week, etc.. We all have bad days.
This kind of petty politics, as with all petty silliness, serves no useful purpose.
Now, if you really want to get your hackles up about Senator Boxer, check-out the pending suggested revisions to the Clean Water Act of 1972, which Senator Boxer supports:
