When will President Obama own his Presidency ?
It’s been over six months since he was inaugurated, and he still seems to be campaigning, and running against George Bush, and the former administration.
Isn’t there a point where he has to own his Presidency, and stop the whining about how bad things were when he began his term. We get it; you were elected in bad times. Believe me, we all wish that times were better.
If times were grand, and if the economy was chugging along in high gear, he certainly would own that, and would be taking credit, even though it can’t be associated with his administration, but it’s not, so, he needs to stop the whining, and own his Presidency.
American voters are not stupid. We know that times are bad for many different reasons that include the former administration, and our lawmakers, on both sides of the aisle, (which includes then Senator Obama), and, frankly, simple greed by investment companies, and individual investors. So, it seems disingenious for the President to constantly harp on the former administration, without placing due blame on so many other parties.
The blaming, and whining, and complaining, is tiresome; it’s gotten old. I would imagine that some of his mosty ardent supporters are starting to wonder if the President is simply not up to the task at hand; maybe the object of all his complaining is simply to setup scenarios that will justify his future failures. I hope not, because we need a winner, right now; not someone who doesn’t have faith in himself.
The President knew that we were in for bad times long before the November election; he could have withdrawn from the race, and the election, and he wouldn’t have all of these headaches. He could simply go back to the Senate, and deal with the problems from a distance.
The Presidency is a voluntary office; in the words of President Harry Truman, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”.
And that is just my opinion.
